The collection is constructed in flat classic silhouettes, the knitted surface designs of the textiles are adorned in MAXHOSA signature patterns, which dominate the looks. With this collection, I aim to express the beauty in culture exchange of the dress codes of western and Xhosa dress-code. All the looks are sketched with an ultimate objective of constructing an innovative utopian African feel, that will outlive the time span of the collection.

The envisioned outcome of the collection is to use a positive approach to appropriation, dominate classic knitwear appeal, with a distinctive modern Xhosa aesthetic, to make a bold and sophisticated cultural meets modern statement.

Buyel'mbo is a Xhosa phrase often uttered by Xhosa elders when they reminisce about the nostalgic lifestyle in the Xhosa homelands. A world where traditional values where the orders of the day, native never had to seek employment and dress code was more elaborate. The collection explores and imagines how the buyele'mbo ideology could be fused into modern time dress. The objective is to remind modern inhabitants how magnificent traditional Xhosa aesthetics could be cultivated into modern dress, and still be astonishing.
